Precision at Its Finest: The ABNOX Needle Dosing Valve Explained

The need for a flexible low-pressure system for the point application of lubricating oil has existed in the market for quite some time. ABNOX developers rose to the challenge and designed an integrated dosing solution that applies lubricant quantities from 3 to 200 mm² with short cycle times: The Volumetric Needle Metering Valve AXDV-N1 .

Peter Barmettler, Head of Design & Development at ABNOX, explains: “The AXDV-N1 sets itself apart with precise lubricating oil application and no pull-back effect.” Among other factors, this is possible thanks to the needle-shaped dosing piston, which has a diameter of just 3 mm, and the minimised dead space volume in the cylinder. The modern design also features a continuously variable adjustment screw with locking screw that ensures flawless repeat accuracy.

The needle metering valve is used, for example, in the assembly of small bearings, gear mechanisms or switch contact surfaces. Numerous customers in the automobile and electronics industries use this innovation, either in an assembly line or as a separate lubricating station.

Air bleeding and dosing piston querying

Two benefits for the customer took centre stage in the development of this simple yet ingenious product: Longevity and additional functions. A hose connection for lubricant discharge during air bleeding keeps the workstation clean and avoids wasting expensive lubricants. In addition, two pneumatic connections are provided for straightforward connection of the needle metering valve to an existing PLC with an electro-pneumatic 5/2-way valve. To maximise the (already high) process reliability, the metering valve can be retrofitted with dosing piston querying, which transmits the end positions of the cylinder strokes via a magnetic sensor.

Go to the Needle Metering Valve AXDV-N1 with standard assembly block – which also facilitates the installation of additional measuring instruments such as a pressure sensor, pressure gauge or flow rate sensor. The system includes a control unit and a pressure tank delivering a constant six bar. For larger series, ABNOX also offers the option of purchasing the valves in your own corporate identity with logo and lettering.
