A special kind of fish hunting that I recently discovered is fishing from a kayak. Prompted by various videos on different platforms, I was eager to try this method. And it doesn't even take much: a stable "sit on top" kayak, the appropriate fishing equipment and off you go!
Stop, of course, also applies here: "Safety first". You'll need a life jacket, various rubber bands and carabiners - unless you're good at gathering your fishing gear underwater. No one needs big-name fishing kayaks that cost thousands of dollars. I was quickly convinced and organized myself a fishing-ready kayak with all the trimmings at the second-hand market.
Once in the water and the desired fishing spot found, I cast the bait. Depending on the technique, I am already caught up in the whole event during this movement, I find myself in a kind of trance. Yes, in an almost meditative state I drift over the water and lose myself in harmony with nature and its silence. Suddenly I feel a tug. But now quickly lift the rod! Bitten. After an exciting fight I look at what is on the hook. With my rubber fishing lure I could actually outwit an eel. What a beautiful animal! However, since it was not my desired catch, I gently put it back in the water after unhooking it.
Slowly it dawns and I enjoy the last minutes under the red coloring evening sun. Already the kayak is strapped to the roof, the equipment in the trunk and it goes home again.
On the sofa I can still feel the gentle swell and the adrenaline of the sudden bite of the fish. This exciting roller coaster of emotions always manages to thrill me anew. I enjoy these excursions into nature very much and already imagine in my mind what kind of catch I will be able to experience next time!
