Books have captivated me since I was a child. My weekly highlight was a visit to the school library. Teachers regularly had to persuade me to leave the library again. The most memorable moment that started my passion for reading was when I was nine years old: I had noticed an old, dusty box of my grandmother's, waiting for disposal at the entrance to the house one morning. My curiosity drove me to open it and search through it. In the process, I came across a book titled "Seven Paws for Penny." The first sentences I read turned into pages and chapters. The story had fascinated me and wouldn't let me go. So after devouring my first book, I saved up pocket money and bought the second volume of the "Penny" series. I received other books for Christmas, birthdays, and in between.
Fifteen years later, after hundreds of books read, I continue to live my passion every day. Only my preferred genres have changed, "Seven Paws for Penny" is no longer on my book list. My current reading material consists mainly of suspenseful thrillers with enormous addictiveness. Sebastian Fitzek, Arno Strobel or Kathleen Glasgow are among my favorite authors. Their works are at the top of my SUB (for non-readers: SUB means " Stack of unread books"). My most recent read was "Verity" by Colleen Hoover. A story full of drama and thrills, of which I enjoyed every page!
For me, reading has a meditative effect, it helps me forget the stress of everyday life. With a book I can dive into another world from one minute to the next - which for me is one of the most beautiful journeys you can make. I can recommend my hobby to everyone, it needs so little to start: A book, an undisturbed place and the journey can begin. I hope you can find your own old dusty box and enjoy the magic of the written word!
