Even as a child, I was lucky enough to sail with my grandfather on a yacht in the waters of the Mediterranean. Soon I wanted to be able to do the same and started sailing on a "Laser Standard", a sailing dinghy used all over the world. With enough wind, sailing on this small dinghy is really fun - provided you are not afraid of the water. Diving into big waves and capsizing is simply a part of sailing in this class!
Over time, not only I have grown, but also the sailing boats. Today I'm allowed to sail with professionals on an old regatta boat and I'm still learning a lot. In the summer we train every Wednesday, but besides refining maneuvering techniques, we also simply enjoy sailing together. Thanks to its large sail area, this boat gives us great fun even on the rather calm Lake Zug with light winds.
Sailing is for me a perfect balance to work, where I always have the responsibility, as you know. On the water, on the other hand, I can rely on the captain as a foresailor to determine the course. I am proud to be part of this sailing team and to be able to sail on the most beautiful boat on Lake Zug

The oldest known representation of a sailing ship was found on an urn in Luxor, dated to about 5000 BC. In the 19th century, the English discovered sailing as a sport for the rich and noble. In recent years, not only leisure sailing on comfortable yachts but also regatta sailing on fast high-tech boats have found more and more followers. Matthias Iseli, managing director, tells how he became one of these followers.
